Dressage Queen Dream Sustainability Practices
A true queen takes care of the land and its resources, and it is our mission here at Dressage Queen Dream to contribute to the protection of our planet. We understand that the fashion industry has a huge impact on the environment, and therefore want to do our part to help protect the planet. It is our mission to keep the fashion industry as sustainable as possible, and to provide our clients with the experience, leadership, and opportunity to look beautiful and feel great, not only by wearing our timeless and elegant pieces, but also by additionally providing stewardship and taking care of the environmet. Here are some of the measures we have taken so far:
Shirt fabrics made from 100% recycled nylon
Dressage Queen Dream recognizes the importance of responsible material sourcing as well as considering the impact our products have in the long run on the environment. Using recycled materials on one hand reduces the amount of additional products that are created from new materials and reduces the already existing ones by repurposing those materials which otherwise would be adding to the mounting pollution by discarded items.
Considering the key principles of sustainable practice:
- Balancing our current needs with those of future generations
- Conserving and protecting resources
- Recognizing that the environment has finite limits
- Creating and maintaining conditions for humans and nature to exist in harmony
We here at DQD want to ensure that what we create truly adds value all around: to our clients immediately by satisfying their desire for beautiful clothes, and also long-term by considering the impact our clothes have on the environment and the planet. So using already existing materials like plastic that otherwise would end up in landfills and polluting our environment, repurposing them reduces the amount of plastic in landfills and additionally not adding more to it.
Why is that important?
Duck down in our signature riding coats:
Duck down is a by-product of the food industry. The duck down used in our coats comes from ducks that are raised for consumption and the feathers and down are considered a waste product by that industry. So utilizing materials that otherwise would be thrown out is a better choice for the environment. Also duck down breaks down if thrown out so when a coat gets retired, it will break down naturally instead of adding to landfills like many products in the fashion industry. And not to forget: the purpose of the coats is to keep the queen warm, and there simply is no better material to do that than natural down!
Recyclable plastic wrapping
Plastic wrapping cannot always be avoided and we use it to protect our garments and for shipping. However, we are in the process to use only recycled and recyclable plastic for these purposes. We are not 100% there, but it is an active component of switching to those materials when producing more wrapping for the brand!
